From Vision to Action: How to Create Positive Change as a Leader
Leadership comes in different forms and different varieties. No matter what level you are, you have the power to create positive change as a leader. This week we are sitting down with Jenny Floros Founder, Leadership Advisor & Coach of Advance Forward Consulting, to share tips on how you can become a ripple effect of positive change in your leadership journey.
Let’s dive into the key highlights from our conversation with Jenny!
Jenny on Leadership Development and Personal Growth
Lisa: Could you share a bit about your background and why leadership is important to you?
Jenny: Sure! I started Advanced Forge Consulting over a year ago out of a deep passion for leadership development. Reflecting on my career in marketing and sales, I realized leadership has always been central. Now, I focus on helping managers become leaders and unlocking potential in employees.
Lisa: Why is leadership particularly crucial in today’s environment?
Jenny: Today’s fast-paced world demands effective leadership. There’s no room for trial and error; businesses need results quickly to grow sustainably. Effective leaders are crucial for achieving and sustaining this growth
Lisa: Can you share a personal experience where you faced challenges as a leader?
Jenny: Transitioning from manager to regional sales director was tough. I had to learn delegation and empowerment. It was a pivotal moment where I had to shift from doing everything myself to trusting and empowering my team.
Lisa: How do you define a leader?
Jenny: A leader inspires, influences, and impacts others. These “soft skills” are now essential “power skills” because they build trust, crucial for leading teams through challenges.
Lisa: How did you overcome the challenges of delegating and empowering others?
Jenny: It was a journey of trial and error. I had to learn from mistakes and failures, gradually building confidence in my team and their abilities. Recognizing and leveraging their strengths was key.
Lisa: What advice do you have for leaders managing teams with strengths different from their own?
Jenny: Focus on guiding team members in areas they want to develop while leveraging their existing strengths. Surrounding yourself with diverse talents enriches the team’s overall capability.
Lisa: Can you share your leadership values and why they are important?
Jenny: My non-negotiables are passion, ownership (trust, integrity, loyalty), and knowing one’s purpose. These values provide a foundation for navigating challenges and staying true to oneself.
Lisa: ow do these values tie back to confidence in leadership?
Jenny: Confidence comes from knowing your values and purpose, which guide decision-making and actions. It’s a continuous journey of self-awareness and growth, personally and professionally.
Lisa: Any final thoughts on leadership and personal growth?
Jenny: Leadership isn’t just about work; it’s about leading a fulfilling life. Understanding your purpose and values helps in making impactful decisions and finding joy in what you do.
