I Want to See you be Brave: Conquering Your Fears
Written By Contributor Writer Meghan Ervine
When I first heard Sara Bareilles pop song Brave not only did I find the catchy tune a great song to jam out to, what really resonated with me was the deep underlying message of the song. I think as women we often let our fears rule our lives. We let our deep-rooted insecurities and teeth clenching terrors paralyze us from stepping out from the shadows of doubt and trying new things, being courageous, being brave.
As someone who has plenty of fears and many things she is unsure of, I think it’s so important as women we learn to encourage one another and help each other conquer our fears together. We can help one another live lives that are bold and fearless, not full of anxiety and stress. As no one wants to live a life like this. Suffering with anxiety and stress can really impact our lives, and so it is important that we find ways in which we can manage it. And what works for some people may not work for another. Some people may find their relief in the form of CBD gum, from places similar to Every Day Optimal CBD, (https://www.everydayoptimalcbd.com/product/cbd-gum-10mg-pure-cbd-in-each-piece/), whereas others decide to try different methods, just like I have. Here are a few tips and tricks on how to be brave and conquer your fears.
Release your stress and fear by doing something you love!
Whether you love to defeat stress by breaking a good sweat, getting lost in a book, having a spontaneous dance party or even taking a simple walk to clear your mind. All of these things can help you to get into a positive and uplifting mind-set; squelching those fears by doing something you really love.
Take baby steps
When trying to take a risk, conquer a fear or just be brave, you don’t have to take leaps and bounds. As great as it is to take a leap of faith, some people aren’t comfortable with that, it’s asking too much of them and it can take a toll mentally, physically and emotionally. Whether you’re giving a speech and you need to practice on friends and family or want to run a daunting marathon and you start with a mile a day, it’s more than okay to take it one step at a time.
Recognize where the fear is coming from then squash those thoughts with happy and positive truths.
It’s good to recognize where the fear is coming from so you can battle those lies with true, positive thoughts! Think of all of the things you are thankful for in your life and count your blessings! This is an amazing way to remind yourself of what you do have and will focus your thoughts on happy things, giving you more peace of mind. If you’re having trouble coming up with positive thoughts yourself, then call up one of your girlfriends who will encourage you and speak truth to you! Who doesn’t know you better or could love you better than your best friends?
Ditch perfectionism and expectations.
Remember, it’s okay to make mistakes because you are human! Nobody is perfect and nobody should be expecting you to be, so have a little grace on yourself. Sometimes when facing a fear you over think it and overanalyze. These things can get to your head and cause you to have crazy expectations and when those expectations are not met, you feel like a failure. Whatever fears you are trying to conquer, go into the situation with an open mind and open heart. This way whatever does happen, no matter what, you will be delightfully surprised
Have courage and remain hopeful
Above all else, remember you are brave just for trying and you are brave for battling the fears that have a grip on your life. Don’t ever let your fears crush your hope. There is always hope and there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Life has so much to offer you and you are courageous for taking it on. You might not know what will happen, but whatever it is, you will be okay.
You see, wonderful, beautiful, courageous women, what is really the worst that could happen when facing the daunting task of conquering your fears? At least you are trying and stepping out of your comfort zone. And that’s the key word, “try”. You have the ability to try new things, to be something, and go for your dreams. All it takes is an ounce of courage, maybe a small step of faith. I’m certain you’ll be very surprised with the results.
So be bold, be brave and be daring. I truly believe the greatest risk we can take in life is not taking any risks at all. I like to think of this quote by Erin Hanson when I’m feeling too afraid to step out of my comfort zone and when my fears feel too big.
“What if I fall, oh but my darling what if you fly?”
Oh the spectacular things that can happen when we step out into the unknown with courage and a faith that things will work out the way they are supposed to! By doing this you can beat your fears, one step at a time. Remember, I want to see you be brave.
