‘You look disgusting’: Woman reveals cruel comments about her photos in this powerful video

real beauty self love beauty

Recently, my friend told me about this video about how this video and the minute she told me, I had to check it out.

For the last few months, YouTube star Em Ford has faced just about every woman’s worst nightmare: displaying her acne, blemishes and imperfections by going makeup free in front of millions. Ford worked up the courage to bare it all to prove an important point.

She recently made a video titled “You Look Disgusting” to share the responses she’s received and how the negative reactions affect her confidence and self-esteem. In three months, she’s received over 100,000 comments regarding her face alone, Ford mentions in the video.

Ford wanted to create a film that showed how social media can set unrealistic expectations on both women and men. One challenge many face today, is that as a society, we’re so used to seeing false images of perfection, and comparing ourselves to unrealistic beauty standards that It can be hard to remember the most important thing – You ARE beautiful.

Some of the comments about Ford without makeup were anything from “I can’t even look at her” to “Seriously… Has she ever washed her face.” The comments use words that nobody would want to hear about themselves including, ” “ugly” and “horrible.” Before you start saying this about others, people need to start thinking about how they would feel if someone said this about.

In the video, Ford shows how some of the comments shift once she applies her makeup saying. Some of the comments start with “You’re so pretty” and they start to tell her she looks more beautiful with make up while others started saying even worse things like “This is why I have trust issues,” or “Imagine waking up next to her in the morning” in reference to her transformation. Proving once again, no matter if you wear make up or not, there is a lot of negative that we need to fix and we cannot please everyone.

But remember one thing- with or without make up YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL- No matter how flawed you feel, no matter how upset you may about the way you look or how hard you find it to make friends, or be confident. Believe in yourself, and never let anyone tell you’re not beautiful – not even yourself.

Please continue to join every movement to remind women just how beautiful they really are.
