What Students Learned During Affirmation Day

On Tuesday, May 14, 2019, Self Love Beauty hosted its first ever Affirmation Day bringing together more than 10 schools and 29 individuals and businesses who participated. It was an outstanding day filled with positive affirmations and talk online and in person. We also had two schools sponsored thanks to Kehres Health and Chiropractic and Modern Realty.

Check out this amazing blog by two eighth graders from Swan Valley Middle School who took part in Affirmation Day thanks to their teacher Alicia Flynn.

1 universe, 8 planets, 195 countries, 7 seas, 7 billion people … don’t let one ruin your day or your mood or your self-esteem.

Out of all the things in the world – opportunity, chances, risks – never let anyone stop you from experiencing it all. Affirmation is the act of accepting something or saying it is true. You know more than anyone that unkind words said about you, are not true because, you know you. When you think of things that are true, it can be a mix of what may actually not be true. Sometimes it can seem like the most unreal things are real, such as “I am not good enough, or I am not capable.” That is not true, it never will be….ever.

What To Say To Help Your Journey To Self Love

Start with things that are true such as, “ I am capable, I am confident, I am beautiful, I am successful, I will excel, I can and I win.” Many people may think they aren’t certain things. That is false. If you make a project, do a speech, create an art piece, play in a sport, whatever it is, own it. You did that. You are good at whatever it is you do and have pride in that. Everyone does everything in their own way. No one is the same and you are your own beautiful self.

You Control Your Thoughts

As hard as it may be, don’t let lies from other people get to you because you are in full control of your life. You get to decide how you want to live your life and think about yourself. Kind words and actions help, they are nice and help others through tough times. But you shouldn’t rely on what other people say to you. What you think about yourself is the most important thing. When you are going through tough times, start with positive self talk and self love. You don’t just wake up one day and fall in love with yourself. It takes patience, and practice but more importantly it takes kindness and love from you to your own heart. You have to be brave enough to forgive yourself from your mistakes and all the missed opportunities from other harmful words or actions.

It Takes Time

Like all the other forms of love it takes time and practice, you will learn to love yourself by practicing self love and telling yourself the truth. Affirmation day can be a day to tell yourself and others the truth. It helps yourself, your mental health and the health of others. Take time for yourself, enjoy what you love. Spread kindness and spread positivity. No one can make you love yourself, only you. You can do it.
